CE – Marking

A CE Mark is a symbol that must be affixed to many products before they can be sold on the European market. CE marking is an administrative marking that indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA).

CE mark indication on a product

The CE marking is the manufacturer’s declaration that the product meets EU standards for health, safety, and environmental protection.

“CE” is sometimes indicated as an abbreviation of “Conformité Européenne” (French for “European Conformity”), but is not defined as such

in the relevant legislation. The mark indicates that a product

Fulfills the requirements of
relevant European product directives
Meets all the requirements of the relevant recognized European harmonized performance and safety standard
Is fit for its purpose and will not endanger lives or property
